On 16 June 2017, the Muslim Legal Network held its Annual Ramadan Iftar Dinner at the Melbourne Rydges Hotel. The event aimed to bring members of the legal profession together, and mark the breaking of the fast. The event included a diverse range of attendees including the judiciary, barristers, lawyers, academics and law students.

The Keynote Speaker was The Hon. Chief Justice Marilyn Warren AC who delivered her paper, "A Current Snapshot of the Victorian Charter of Human Rights". Guest Speaker Ms Belinda Wilson, President of the Law Institute of Victoria, spoke on "Migrant Communities, Access to Justice and the Law". Barrister, Fatmir Badali, delivered a personal reflection on what Ramadan means to him. Imam Bekim Hasani from the Australian Islamic Albanian Society gave the call to prayer and the Quranic recitation. The Islamic Museum of Australia provided gifts which were given to our Special Guests.

The Muslim Legal Network would like to thank all our guests for attending and coming together, in the spirit of Ramadan. We would also like to acknowledge the contributions of Zeno Lawyers as an event sponsor.
